Representation

How are women represented in this trailor?
In The Hunger Games trailer, Katniss is represented as a physically strong youg female which is quite subversive as usually the males are the heroes whereas she is strong, independent and tough. She is also presented as a brave fighter, fighting along side the boys; this will surprise the audiance. She's also self sacrificing as her sister was selected to play in one of the hunger games which involves a lot of killing but she put her self out and went in the games for her. This bravery is more of a masculine quality normally in heroes of action films. However, on the other hand, she does have a slim body shape and a pretty face which is more conventional (typical) for female characters in action films.

How are men represented?
In the Hunger Games the male (Peter Mallark) is like the sidekick to the girl which is also quite subversive aas usually the men are the strong ones who take the lead. Peter is seen as quite mentally soft and nice which is usually how females are represented in films. There's also a love triangle between the hero (Katniss) and two love interests, Peter and Gale which puts the male characters in more female roles.

How is the political hierachy represented(president snow and his army)? Why?
President Snow is seen is seen as cold as cold and that synergises with his name which is President"snow"which you only see when it's cold. This name Snow also has connotations of whiteness and he is a white male and top of the hierarchy which is normal for how films represent race. There is a mixture of races taking part in the games but the black and minority characters are more likely to die. Katniss and the two boys are both white which is conventional for action heroes and does not portray a realistic view of the world.

The film represents the reality tv genre that is popular with audiences in the 21st century. This is ment to critisise TV shows of people competing against eachother all for a prise and entertainment for the people who watch it at home. Younge people are being played and being sacrificed over the shock on the evil rich ordiance which is very cruel and wicked thing to do.waisting human lifes.

good
Easily ranks among the best from the Disney Studio, and a very worthy successor to Mulan 1998, a similar story equally well done.

Oddly also seems to be best work ever from Dwayne Johnson, perhaps not the first name I would have associated with "voice acting," but a star turn nonetheless.

If you want to be picky -- which is the reviewer's job, after all -- the momentum slows a little at the top of the third act, but the ultimate themes of redemption, forgiveness and self-discovery at the finale are an absolute joy.

bad
Oh... my... word...

A girl wants to go where her dad won't let her, wants to do what her dad won't let her. Hmm.. sound familiar? Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Poca... Pocahontas, Mulan, Brave and just about every modern Disney. Let's look at gender then Disney, seeing as you're OBSESSED with it:

Male characters: Dad - scared, repressive, short-sighted, wrong. Demi-God chap - selfish, conceited, vain, ineffective, emotionally repressed, thief. Crab - as above (I'm assuming he's male). Coconut Pirates - murderous but ineffectual (I'm assuming their male).

Female characters: Moana - bright eyed, aspirational, quick learner, visionary, empathetic, brave, strong, amazing, indefatigable, indomitable, perceptive. Granny - as above plus supernaturally gifted. Earth Goddess thingy - was only trying to kill people because the male character had robbed her of her precious.

Yawn. Increasingly Disney is working as a SJW - righting perceived inbalances in society. They have obviously perceived a gender imbalance biased towards males in society and have therefore produced their own version of the world where the gender imbalance is biased heavily and totally towards the females. Everything else in the film is nice .

Reviewing or production work- Assignment 2

1) what are the typical conventions you have used:
I have used an age rating on on the bottom right corner and its small so that it creates synergy with other film posters. I've also used a nice bold title which is on the top third so it can catch the viewers attention, the title is just like an college font which suggests the film is based on a high school and i have also used a ratings which most film posters have i used 5 star ratings in the films the "director" has previously done which tells the viewers that this film going to be good as well. For the central image i have used 3 high school girls and you can tell this because they're wearing their school uniform. It also says how the film is "Coming this summer" which is another typical movie poster convention and i put my one just on top of the title because the viewer focus quite a bit in that area.

2)What is the genre of your film and how what your target audience know by the choices you have made?:
the genre of my film is teen/comedy and the target can probably tell because the main image is of three high school girls and teenagers go high school. The back ground of the film poster is pink and the colour pink has connotations of being girly and girls can be quite mean towards each other. The title is "Greenford-Heights" and the bit that says "Heights" might refer to how they're rich teenagers. You can probably tell this film may be set in a school as they're are wearing school uniform.

3)What institutional information have you used to try and sell the film and how does this appeal to the audience?;
For the ratings i did 5 stars for the previous film the director has rated which might make the audience want to see this film as this may be a success as well and on the bottom left of the film poster it has 3 production companies which are quit well known which will also draw the viewers in as that'll  make them think that the film is good.

4) synergy between your story board and trailer:
the story board has synergy to my movie poster as the title at the end "Greenford-Heights" is written in the same thont and also has the same background colour as it does in the movie poster, the story board also has synergy with the movie pioste as it has the same three main images on the movie poster and you cant tell they're the same characters as they have the same hairstyles and the background of that is also pink in the story board and in the film poster. On the film poster the one of the production companys was "Lionsgate" and in the story board it has lionsgate logo aswell.

5) What representations have you use in your film?:
Even though this film is for boys and girls this will probably get alot girls attention as the movie posters main images are three girls. This'llprabably atract mostly teenager as the movie pister has three teenagers as the main image . This film may take place in a high schoool as theyre wearin school uniforms and this school has all mix nationaltys as in the main image in the film poste has three girls from three different bbackgrounds.
